PREMs can transform patient feedback from satisfaction measurement into actionable patient-safety intelligence. By focusing on observable safety processes, using SOPs as the foundation, involving patients in design, and applying rigorous validation, the CAHO project developed 17 context-specific tools. These measures help hospitals identify gaps, strengthen accountability, and continuously improve safer, patient-centred care.
